A Funeral of Innocence

by Ligeia Wept

supported by
Machine Head

Machine Head Certainly Gothic, melancholic and heavy at places, but still full of surprises. Sparse and atmospheric at times with avantgarde and experimental leanings. Congratulations
Favorite track: Empty into Void Spiritus Mundi.

Lanna E My favorite track on this album is She Arose Unto a Dying Kiss. It haunts me in a good way. The gothic doom symphonic metal combo is done very well. Favorite track: She Arose Unto a Dying Kiss.

eurynomedoom A true piece of symphonic doom/death art. Perfectly represents how this music should be crafted... and supported! Favorite track: A Savage Winter Wrought of an Unclean Garden.

Funeral Fog This is an album you should expect to punch you in the face with dark atmosphere. It's also insanely beautiful, well written, & worth every penny.

~Her silent scream~ Within thine chains I lay bound Thus weeps the loved one I once had found A withering prize I am colder than stone... So utterly I despise The womb from which you were thrown! ~His despair~ Oh my Sophia Doth thou sleep Your coveted heart Does it still beat? Rest my precious A mourning kiss Must I place Upon Icy lips? ~Her silent scorn~ Stilled with bitter sorrow By these lips you are rejected Though mine heart it Secretly beats my Spirit's death, You have affected Descended in silence My body does dwell To you I am dead! I bid thee farewell... ~Descent~ 13 days like winters passed While statuesque she bore the mask Within the ashen tempest raged Her fury like a wild beast caged! A misty shroud in silence hung As her flesh was borne Amidst the groves – twisting, ancient A wailing chorus rose... But as the earth fell upon the casket Her eyes began to open... A silken, silver blanket draped o'er The slumbering souls That did surround her... ~Desperation~ Oh my beloved, What has come to be? Endless, empty years have I endured, Yearning for thee Rise, my beloved - 'Tis for you I have come For this foul work Must be undone! Silence, my beloved, Heed the dying choir 'Tis my shattered heart, these verses of its final hour This final breath be the wind Here our story ends... © 2020 Ligeia Wept

Once catholic feet fell upon our sands Hence a murderous shadow was cast A poison crawled across the land Its tyranny held fast The infection raged like a forest fire; As brother turned against brother With the blood of waling innocents The trembling Earth was smothered Take me now unto your depths Tranquil embrace Drink deep of my slowing breath Dreams they fade... Carry me unto realms unknown The calendar I dread Upon my heart, ivy's grown As this life I shed.. Eight waves, benign did come Such hallowed suffering rode upon the ninth... Take me now from this place Of beauty unbounded By a sickness riddled faith Her body's surrounded Her name in countless years lies buried A memory so picturesque Dwelling ...ghostlike, she wanders Through caverns full of emptiness Her name in countless years lies buried A memory so picturesque Dwelling ...ghostlike, she wanders Through caverns full of emptiness Her parents slain by “men of God” The cleansing left her orphaned A wounded soul, the bloodied Earth She vanished into Autumn... I'll not behold this tragedy For another day An ocean vast does welcome me Takes my soul away © 2020 Ligeia Wept

Under coldest star we rise, worlds are lost before your eyes For each step no shade no scars Faded Gods grasp broken shards Long Gone from your home Whispers slowly beckon us And I won't cry your name Empty into Void Spiritus Mundi A sky stainless throws A Reach of marrow bones and lilies Into silent spaces we collide this knowing Forever a sacrament of a bleeding sentience A sinking rise Into the rotting rays of night Descending an omittance There we will find the burn of this existence A mineral horizon of a truth And so we will space this ephemeral a fixture, And salute as we remember What has already come to pass

Once unknown this thing The nature of my being Now my summon heed Twelve sisters of my creed Thirteen seekers of shadows Entwined in carnal rites Underneath the Moon divine Clad in nought but her silver light A malice riddled vein did seep The Vinum Sabati... A sickly Autumn chill did whisper “Arise ye Sorority!” And so they danced, the drunken coven Oblivious upon those seeds Of the slaughter and bloody chaos A winter when the vast river would freeze Seething menace, hunger spawns a plague Icy was rendered all the Seine A crescendo of discontent did rise The heads of their sovereigns rolled as Madness reigned A Savage Winter Wrought of an Unclean Garden... By carrion stench The air is fouled For all to see A thousand dead lay piled Primal minds Succumbed to madness In defiance of Eden Furious, ravenous... Can you hear me Mother? Slowly heaves thy breast... Can you hear me Mother? Behold this silken flesh... I roam these streets, awash in red This tragic scene - It renders my heart with dread! And so they danced, the drunken coven Oblivious upon those seeds Of the slaughter and bloody chaos A winter when the vast river would freeze Oh cursed winter – bid me devour my own kin! (in French) Mother, can you hear me? As you sleep, your breast it slowly heaves - silken flesh that can sustain me through this night, help me see tomorrow. Oh cursed winter that bids me devour my own kin! The weight of this dread upon my heart, I cannot bear, nor can I bear the hunger that consumes me, weakens me... Forgive me mother! © 2020 Ligeia Wept

Part 1: The Priest Condemned by thee My house of faith For acts of a hedonist fiend Mine sins proclaimed Smother me in shame as the Hinges of hypocrisy did scream... As the hinges of hypocrisy did scream Thereafter destined To dwell in the shadows Banished from the light of day} Thus revealed This irony of faith Cold and destined to decay Cold and destined to decay... Part II: The Priestess Look to the shadows My dear Thy kin, thy future lay here Come feast with us, with lust Remain forever near Come to mine bosom, mine hearth Dark winds have cleared thy path Autumn, she bids you de robe Shed this skin that you loathe Liberty... from chastity We give to thee Oh Sultry embrace of heresy Liberty... from chastity We give to thee Oh Sultry embrace of heresy Part III: The Incubus Midst the light of 13 candles A funeral of innocence See me now as I behold thee Henceforth abandon thy chains Paradise beacons thee on this night Thy flesh, thy soul, surrender Untold pleasures await thee here To fill thy veins with sin We bid thee heresy Befriend We bid thee heresy Befriend... Blood and shadows Did bequeath thee Pleasures so vast Now let us feast... © 2020 Ligeia Wept
